Girls’ High School, which is located at Mancheonyangji-gil, Dong-myeon,

subject in an eco-friendly classroom environment. It actively supports students’ activities. There are more than 50 club activities and students are
provided with student exchange opportunities with a variety of foreign schools.
This widens students’ thinking and experiences. – ED
In April and July of 2017, Chuncheon Girls’ High School students took a trip to a school in Irkutsk, Russia. This
program is for students of both schools to visit each other’s school and share the culture of both countries.
We participated in the program and visited Irkutsk, Russia said. This was our first trip away from home and we met many more friendly people than we expected. We saw, heard, and felt a lot during our trip to Irkutsk. What we saw there might be a daily routine of people there, but it was special and curious to us, visitors of the city for the first time.
The museum that we visited first, the houses in the countryside, Olkhon island, and children enjoying the camp on the island, all appeared new to us. In the class for experiencing their traditional music, we found that they use many different instruments from around the world and even the same instrument can produce different sounds depending on the way it is played. When we visited a home of people living in the country to experience their life, we felt like we were in a grandmother’s house from a fairy tale. However, people of Olkhon island were very friendly to us, unlike people in the downtown area there. We met children from a city who came to the island for the camp and played some games with them. While playing with these innocent and pure children, we felt like our minds were healed. We also had a chance to take a Trans-Siberian train.
It was hard to stay only in the same place for three days, but it was a new experience for us. We had not only an opportunity for cultural exchange but also unforgettable memories.
Besides this program, our school has student exchange programs with schools in China, Japan, and Indonesia. These programs with foreign schools would provide us many chances to experience different cultures and gain new perspective for them. Our principal says, “Now that the global community is becoming more and more important to us, Chuncheon Girls’ High School will try to create opportunities for students to gain a wide range of international experiences in response to the high expectations of the students.”
